    Compassionate hospice care

    What is Hospice Care?

Hospice is a way of providing care for a person who is terminally ill. Hospice is not a place to stay, like a hospital or nursing home. Hospice is a program that focuses on quality of life.

    Comfort and Dignity

When medical care can no longer offer a cure, hospice provides comfort, palliative care, and support for persons with life-limiting conditions. Hospice care focuses on the patient's comfort and quality of life, rather than on a cure.

Services can be provided in the comfort of one's home or wherever the patient resides, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or hospitals.

    Pain and symptom management

    Spiritual and emotional counseling
    Respite care for family caregivers
    Bereavement support for families

    Who is Eligible?

Hospice care is available for patients who meet certain criteria:

1A life-limiting illness with a prognosis of six months or less
2The patient or family chooses comfort care over curative treatment
3The patient is no longer seeking aggressive treatment
4A physician certifies the terminal diagnosis
